๐ŸŽฏ Making Traffic Work For You

This guide transforms the traditional frustration of traffic delays into opportunities for discovery, dining, and meaningful experiences. By matching activities to available time and current conditions, every trip across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge area becomes an adventure rather than simply transportation.

Remember: The goal isn't to avoid traffic entirely, but to use traffic information strategically to enhance your Brooklyn and Staten Island experiences. Whether you have 15 minutes or 2 hours, there's always something worthwhile to discover.

Bridge History

From its completion in 1964 until 1981 the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world. But the idea for the bridge went back a lot before 1964, in fact some of the first serious proposals are from the 1950s when Port Authority of New York and the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority held a joint study on improving traffic flows in the area.
